What We Do

Inclusive Education & Skills Development
Teacher and PTA/SMC training, literacy and numeracy support, and accessible classrooms in schools across Rumbek East and Rumbek Center.
Gender & Disability Advocacy
Programs addressing the intersection of gender-based violence and disability, including the Women with Disabilities Forum on rights to family and property.
Resilience, Food Security & Livelihoods
Market-oriented agricultural inputs, capacity building for farmers and fisherfolk, and climate-sustainable water and sanitation services for crisis-affected communities.
Policy Advocacy & Communication
National-level engagement on disability policy, including advocacy for ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD).
Civic Engagement & Democracy
Supporting civic participation in governance processes. DARD supported South Sudan's 2010 general elections and the 2011 independence referendum.
Human Rights, Protection & Child Rights Governance
Child protection, child rights governance, and safeguarding, including consent and registration processes that protect the rights of children with disabilities.
Peace-building, Governance & Community Security
Community peace dialogues and conflict resolution, including a 2017 peace agreement between the Gony and Thuyic communities and ongoing dialogues in Cueibet and Rumbek North counties.
Institutional Development
Strengthening DARD's own governance, systems, and capacity to deliver accountable, sustainable programs for persons with disabilities.
